Full Version: Is DSerial-PCIe card PCIe 2.0 compatible?

I am having trouble with a different manufacturer's serial cards in PCIe slots on two computers.

The specifications of this card state that it is "Compliant with PCI-Express Revision 1.0a" but the motherboard of my PC appears to be PCIe 2.0.  I will purchase two of your DSerial-PCIe cards if you can confirm that they are PCIe 2.0 compatible.
Like most Serial PCIe cards our DSerial PCIe cards only supports PCIe x1. This is due to the fact that the inherent speed of a UART is unable to utilize the full PCIe bandwidth even in PCIe x1, therefore I don't know of any Serial Cards that would support higher.

That being said the full PCIe specification is backwards compatible so even if your Motherboard supports PCIe 2.0 it should still support all PCIe x1 cards. One thing to note though is that the whole PCIe bus will only operate at the fastest speed of the slowest cards in the system so if you have any other PCIe cards that require the full PCIe x2 speed having a PCIe x1 card along side it might be causing compatibility issue.

I don't really have the expertise to support a different manufacturer's card but I suspect you might be fighting a different issue than you currently suspect.
